Esrgan neural network can already be familiar to you: it was used, for example, to improve textures in Max Payne and many other games. Modder Red11by decided to use Esrgan capabilities in another folk favorite – dilogy Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
The enthusiast “fed” the neural networks of the texture of all characters (both people and aliens with droids) and all types of armor (both male options and female). As a result, textures with a resolution of 2048 on 2048 pixels and increased details were obtained.
Red11by warns that some textures may look wrong: the Esrgan neural network is not so cool as to pump the images better than the painstaking human work will do.
Below – a comparison of textures on the example of the first Knights of the Old Republic. Download the modification here.

I mean, you can’t see? The woman was green on the last screen, and became purple. How can you not notice this?))
Eh … there was no way to https://windiggerscasino.uk/games/ go through her at one time, since in my village there were no disks with her. Now in Steam, but never launched. Question to experts: how is it playing now?
It was not unambiguous, it would be better if it would be better in addition, she knew how to pump the number of landfills, then in the aggregate there would already be a fairly significant result!
At the moment, for the most part it only got out worse. For example, the textures of Chubaki, it is mainly wool and in the original is slightly blurry and looks just even less … as we see first of all, the neuroset increases the clarity and detail of the drawing, in some cases a little texture with all the ensuing and again this is far from always good. At 1.2.3 screenshots, everything was beneficial, 4.6.7.8 is rather worse than better, there is some kind of touching, taking into account the appearance of the person only in favor!
The problem, perhaps, is only in the balance of Blaster and Nearby weapons, and partially forced to exploit in the first kotor.
In the balance sheet, trouble due to the role system, which takes into account the parameter of physical strength to increase damage and attack with cold weapons, but at the same time, the dexterity parameter for firearms increases only the attack, but not damage. Damage is fixed and depends on the weapon itself.
It’s funny that physical strength does not affect the “firearm” at all, while HK has this indicator very high (robot killer in your party). And since he is a droid, he cannot arm himself with a weapon. Why the hell is such a "fizukha" – it is incomprehensible.
By eksjot, I mean the refusal of pumping the levels of the main character in the first kotor until the heroes get to the second planet. Again, the structure of the role system, which is limited by 20 levels, is partially to blame, of which approximately 8 pump on the first planet. If this is not fatal for other characters, then for GG it is quite critical.
Nevertheless, without even raising the level, you can go through all the quests of the first planet, albeit not without difficulties.
The second Kotor is felt in places as if raw. The problem with the balance of Blaster \ Sword is saved, so making the second Dzhango Fet will most likely not come out.
Otherwise, beautiful representatives of the RPG genre.
The picture must be increased for the full screen. Then it becomes noticeable. The details of the textures are now more clear, there are no ladders, etc.D ..
I can not help but note the jambs in management in the first part. I recared this year, and came across very stubborn characters who refused to do what I want, and fled about my business)
But in general, everything is fine, high -quality games from biovar. The plot is still good.
I don’t see any difference, the textures barely pulled up after processing, it is unlikely that it is worth it, given that the heavier textures will have to load longer, which will certainly affect the performance, what for is it necessary if the difference is indispensable.
The gameplay can at first pretend, all these stuck in the door jambs, but as soon as the first light sword is collecting the game is transformed for the better.
Well, I don’t agree with this thesis. Yes, dexterity does not increase damage, but it increases protection. Total, as in D&D, strength increases the damage and accuracy of near -combat weapons, and dexterity is the accuracy of long -range weapons and protection.
In addition, in the second part there is a “deadly accuracy” perk, which adds damage for all remote weapons (+2 for the rank of skill, maximum to +10) and reduces the likelihood of recapture a shot for Jedi doctors.
If you add to this a modified carpet rifle and its analogues (causes damage to the endless type of damage, which can not be cut in any shield in the game), and also add personal skills of some characters (for example, HK-47), then in the end it can turn out such a monster that eats up a pack of Jedi masters for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
It is a pity that this neural network does not add additional landfills to models. And so, yes, there is a difference if you look closely.
The second Kotor studied much less, perhaps some roughnesses were brightened up. But still, how many conventions are a perk, character characteristics, special weapons (by the way, for the unstoppable damage? In the first “knights” I remember, blasters had either a physical or energy or sound type of damage. Nothing could protect anything from the sound, except for a pair of objects, but it was the weakest, there were shields from physical and energy). When, how to make a car from Vuki to destroy everything, there is enough auto -attack and the simplest blade. Therefore, I’m talking more about balance than a completely broken "firearm".
By the way, a separate moment of the balance of blasters can still note the advantage of two blasters over rifles / "machine guns". The mystery for me was the usefulness of the firing of the rifles-most of the shootings take place in narrow spaces, and the enemy is usually not very convenient due to pauses between attacks and fines for moving.
Nevertheless, both games, and especially the second, are still more focused on creating a hero-phrase. And over time, you begin to regret that you have no way to play a “rejection of strength” to the main character without any additional restrictions.
